Only Sarah Jessica Parker Could Pull Off Glittery Boots and Cargo Pants

Vogue UK | September 2020

By Alice Cary

Style chameleon Sarah Jessica Parker just debuted yet another unexpected look. On paper, glittery knee-highs and khaki cargos don’t seem like natural partners, nor a particularly stylish combination, but SJP just made it work. Carrie Bradshaw would likely approve of the actor’s bold ensemble, which she wore to visit her recently-opened shoe store in Manhattan. Unsurprisingly, the sparkly boots are from her own eponymous line.

Parker has become a regular fixture at her Midtown flagship. And who better to model the range than the actor-turned-designer herself? Almost every time she is snapped out and about in the Big Apple, she is clad in her own styles, with the party-ready Cosette Bis heels a particular favourite. Colourful masks, too, have made their way into the SATC star’s everyday wardrobe – she isn’t afraid to make a statement with her face covering.

A shoe line was a natural progression for the woman who played Carrie Bradshaw, who opened her SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker Collection shop in early July. She also supplied designer Christian Siriano with shoes for his spring/summer 2021 collection, which debuted on 17 September over a livestream from Connecticut. Siriano’s store is conveniently located just five doors down from SJP’s boutique. Days prior to his showcase, the American fashion designer dropped by to see some styles for himself, all with the assistance of Parker herself.
